Modern Dance Overview
We explore various Modern Dance techniques including Limon, Graham, Horton and Duncan Dance. We start class with warm-up and body-conditioning movement studies based on principles of these techniques. Students experience full body immersion, sequences that travel through space and movement combinations that include a wide range of movement dynamics. In many of our modern dance classes, a priority is choreography explorations. Students learn how to order movement and how to create movement that is relevant and personal. Often our modern dance classes are in combination with other dance techniques such as Jazz, Creative Dance or Duncan Dance. In our more advanced ballet classes, our performance pieces sometimes include modern dance influences.
